Keto Cupcakes and Gluten Free Cupcakes in San Antonio – Are they both the same?

So, I heard a lot about Keto diets and I wrote about my understanding of KETO diet in this blog post

So, now the next question I got asked was ” Are your cupcakes GLUTEN-FREE?” I was not sure and guess what I decided to find out what is gluten-free exactly mean.

Here is what I found:

What is GLUTEN?

Gluten is found in many types of foods that we consume every day. It is found in wheat and other grains such as oats, rye, and barley. Gluten makes the grain GLUE-LIKE  when mixed with water. E.g., the gluten found in wheat bread flour helps the bread to rise and gives it a chewy taste, imagine bread having no chewy taste then you can finish it in one bite. Gluten is used very widely in various food additives and ingredients, which makes it difficult to avoid its use in baking and other items on your grocery list.

A gluten-free diet is generally used to treat people with celiac disease, or those who have gluten sensitivity and experience discomfort and symptoms after consuming gluten.

Some things are naturally gluten-free and should be included in your diet plan:

  • Fruits and vegetables – All types of fruits and vegetables are naturally gluten-free so eat away!

  • Meats and fish – Avoid battered or coated meats or fish.

  • Dairy – Products such as plain milk, plain yogurt, and plain cheese are gluten-free as long as it does not contain added ingredients.

  • Starches and flour – Potatoes, corn, chickpea flour, potato flour, cornflour, soy flour, tapioca flour, and coconut flour.

  • Nuts and seeds

  • Herbs and spices

  • Spreads and oils – All butter and vegetable oils (some celiacs avoid canola oil as it’s often grown in the same fields as wheat).

Therefore, a gluten-free diet can be beneficial to anyone facing digestive problems such as bloating, constipation, etc. It can help boost your digestive tract.

Also, by dropping gluten from your diet can allow you to have more energy during your day. Gluten can cause inflammation, just like sugar, and if you remove it then it can result in improved energy, reduced stress, and can overall aid one’s emotional balance – a healthy body breeds a healthy mind.

Again, I feel that one should follow diet plans ONLY if they need to or else having a balanced diet is the best option for all of us.
